UNDER ROMAN EMPERORS
Emperor NERO
During the rule of Nero, the way he persecuted Christian was very painful and gory. He would tie Christians to crosses, cover them in wild animals, release savage dogs tear apart their bodies and if it was dark he would set them on fire. A reason that Nero did this was because he thought that Christians were responsible for the fire that engulfed the city. Two saints who were martyred at the hands of Nero were St. Peter and St. Paul.

Emperor SEPTIMUS
Septimus was just as cruel as Nero and Decius. He martyred two saints, Perpetua and Felicity by placing them in a amphitheatre and releasing wild animals into it. It was a very public execution and was a horrific scene to watch. From this persecution it led to other Christian being frightened and moving closer to the Roman faith.
